MICRODERMABRASION
This popular exfoliation treatment polishes the skin with crystals and stimulates the production of new skin cells and collagen. It treats aging, congested, flaky, dry, dull, thickened, blemished and sun damaged skin.
How it works:
Microdermabrasion is gentle mechanical exfoliation using sterilized crystals that removes the superficial dead skin cells that keep our skin looking dull and drab.
What to expect:
During this comfortable treatment you will feel a sensation like a cat licking your face along with gentle suction on the skin as dead skin cells are being “knocked off” and then “vacuumed” up. Your skin will be slightly pink right afterwards but for the majority will subside within a couple of hours. It is recommended you wear a broad spectrum sunscreen to protect your newly exposed skin. We recommend wearing a high quality mineral sunscreen powder like Jane Iredale for the first 24 hours after treatment. Our Skin Health Specialists can help choose your powder colour for a perfect skin colour match.

Benefits
-
- No downtime.
- Brighter and smoother skin.
- Comfortable treatment.
- Safe for all skin types
- Can be used on face or body.
Microdermabrasion FAQ
How does microdermabrasion work?
It is a gentle exfoliation treatment that removes the dry-skin layers of the epidermis and, together with adjustable suction control, simultaneously stimulates the rebuild of collagen and elastin for firmer, healthier and younger-looking skin. This can be performed with the diamond-tip applicator (SilkPeel Dermalinfusion treatment) or a jet of fine mineral crystals (microdermabrasion) passing over the skin’s surface.
Who can benefit?
Men and women of any skin type or colour. Anyone with aging, congested, flaky, dry, devitalized, thickened, blemished, dull or sun-damaged skin will have it rejuvenated and refreshed. Uneven skin tones and textures will also be improved.
What areas of the body can be treated?
The most common areas of treatment are the face, neck, chest, shoulders, back, hands, knees and elbows.
How many treatments will I need?
This treatment is meant to be progressive, not aggressive. Generally, results are most noticeable after the third treatment, although the skin will appear fresher, cleaner, smoother and softer for some clients after the first session. Treatments are usually performed every 7-14 days for a series of 6 sessions.
Are there any side effects?
Since there is minimal discomfort and no healing time, most people can resume normal activities immediately after a treatment. You may experience a slight tingling and the skin may feel tighter, as if exposed to the wind or sun. Your skin may also appear slightly flushed, although this generally fades within 24 hours.
CHEMICAL PEELS
Chemical peels are simple and effective ways to gently resurface and clean up the skin. Medical grade peels can improve skin texture, reduce acne, help control oiliness, lighten sunspots & melasma, improve dryness and minimize fine lines and pores. After a skin assessment, we choose the peel that is best for you.
Clinical Facial $149 This is no regular facial. This customized skin therapy is designed to safely exfoliate dead skin cells while providing a level of hydration. It is ideal for clients with normal to dry skin whose complexion is in need of brightening up and smoothing out. We tell clients to expect some dry and flaky skin from days 3-5 post treatment. Series 3: $399
Skin Restoration Treatment $159 This skin treatment is all business and results. Our strongest medical grade peel, it targets skin imperfections like melasma, dull drab & uneven skin colour, rough texture, large pores, fine lines & wrinkles. We tell our clients to expect some dry and flaky skin from day 3-5 post treatment.
AFA Clay Peel $99 This 2 step sophisticated facial treatment is designed for oily, acneic skin that is in need of removal of impurities from clogged pores. The first step draws out impurities, absorbs excess oil, and prepares skin for the peel. Step 2 is the exfoliating gel that removes dead skin cells, removes excess oil and debris. Skin is left dramatically smoother, tighter and softer. A series of 4-6 treatments is recommended leaving you with consistently smoother skin, a marked improvement in breakouts, more even skin colour and smaller pores. Series 4: $349 Series 6: $479
How it works:
A medical grade acidic product is applied to the skin in a controlled manner. The ph of the product helps “lift” the dead skin cells thereby revealing the fresher cells underneath. It is generally recommended to do a series of 3-5 peels every 2-4 weeks with a maintenance of 1 every 4-12 weeks depending on skin issues we are tackling.
You should avoid waxing 7 days before a peel and stop using topical retinoids or retinols 3 days prior to the peel. Avoid a peel if you have had a recent cold sore and let the Skin Health Therapist know if you are prone to getting cold sores so that area can be avoided.
What to expect:
The appropriate peel will be chosen for you after an assessment is done. Redness and a feeling of very tight skin is normal right after the treatments. You may experience no downtime or you may feel tightness, dryness, flakiness and possible peeling at days 3-5. Skin is usually back to normal within a week. Immediately after a peel you should avoid sun exposure and makeup. Wearing a daily broad spectrum sunscreen daily is a necessary part of post care. Your Skin Health Therapist will recommend one for you.
Benefits

- Minimal to no discomfort.

Chemical Peel FAQ
Are chemical peels safe?
We only use peels that penetrate superficially, as we’ve found that the risks and side effects associated with medium-depth peels are a deterrent to many clients. We use quality, time-tested products and find the peel that is the right fit for you.
Is a chemical peel painful?
No, just a slight heat/tingling/itchiness reaction before the peel is neutralized. Any short-lived discomfort is usually negated by gentle fanning of the face. Most clients say their face feels like they have been out in the sun.
Is there any downtime?
Depending on the type of peel, you may experience redness like you have a sunburn for a day or so.
Your skin will also feel tight with some peeling for the next 7-10 days. Some clients experience sunburn peeling for the first couple days and others can have excessive dryness for up to 14 days. Most of the time, you can continue with regular activities. The potential side effects will be reviewed at your consultation when customizing a treatment plan.
What is the after-care?
Treating your skin gently like you would after a sunburn is the best advice. Avoid hot tubs, saunas, swimming pools, tanning beds or skin care products with active ingredients like retinols, glycolic/fruit acids and hydroquinone for 5 days after the peel. It is also recommended that you avoid excessive exercising and sweating for 3 days after a peel to avoid irritating skin.
Can I put makeup over treated area?
We recommend you avoid cosmetics for the next 3 days. If you feel this is not reasonable, then we recommend using Jane Iredale Mineral press or loose powder. This is a dry SPF and has nothing in it to irritate the treated area. Sunscreen MUST be worn for at least 5 days after peel.
How many peels should I have and how often?
Many clients find that a peel done every 4-6 weeks provides optimal results. Some peels may be done in every 2-4 weeks with a series of 4 sessions. This will be discussed at the time of consultation and creation of your treatment plan.
Will a chemical peel remove deep lines or wrinkles?
The peels we offer will not remove deep lines. However, a peel will improve tone, texture, smoothness and appearance of the skin. For dynamic wrinkles (wrinkles that occur with facial movement), cosmetic BOTOX® is the best treatment. Loss of volume is most effectively treated with a hyaluronic acid filler such as Juvederm.

Skinpen® Microneedling Facial Treatment
This procedure gives you truly healthy skin. As we age the natural architecture of our skin deteriorates, which leads to fine lines, wrinkles, large pores and uneven skin texture. Microneedling, or collagen induction therapy, is a great way to address these signs of aging at the cellular level. Microneedling comfortably creates thousands of micro-injuries in the skin to trigger the body’s natural wound healing response. This results in skin remodeling, including formation of collagen and elastin, the two proteins predominantly responsible for the structure of the skin.
How it works:
This Health Canada approved microneedling tool uses tiny needles to penetrate specific areas of the skin and stimulate the skin’s natural ability to product collagen and elastin, which in turn help the skin look and feel healthier.
What to expect:
You will have your face cleansed and a topical numbing agent will be applied to your face to help maximize comfort. Numbing cream will be removed 20 min later and your face cleansed again. The Skinpen® will then be used by sliding it along the skin. The 2 mm tiny needles will enter the upper layer of the skin to make small needle wounds. The body will then fill these wounds in with collagen and elastin fibres diminishing the presence of scars, fine lines, rough texture and wrinkles. You may experience a sensation of mild scraping while the procedure is being done. After the numbing cream wears off you will have a moderate sunburn reaction feeling like redness, tightness, warmth and mild stinging which is all normal. Usually a treatment regime of 3-5 treatments 4 weeks apart is recommended for improvement in scarring, fine lines and wrinkles. 1 treatment as maintenance for glowing vibrant skin. Clients who use retinols should stop 5 days prior to treatment. Avoid sun for at least 48 hours before treatment.
